What is it?
Developed by Emil Erlenmeyer the Erlenmeyer Flask is a type of laboratory glassware witch has many uses. It can be used to make mixes, to be used as a container and also to make titrations.
Although is widely used in laboratories, the Erlenmeyer Flask has some limitations and his major one it’s the fact that has a low precision in the measuring of volumes. It must be used to make only approximate volumes and never accurate ones.
There are two types of Erlenmeyer Flasks:
• The Erlenmeyer Wide Neck;
• The Erlenmeyer Narrow Neck.
This type of laboratory glassware has a tall neck to be agitated.
The Erlenmeyer Flask is a very versatile glassware because it can be used with other types of chemestry glassware such as Burettes, Pipettes, etc.
